In the 1990s, several urban development projects took place in Valencia that changed the physiognomy of the city. The city expanded, affecting large areas of periurban orchards.
Hundreds of hectares of productive huerta succumbed to asphalt. Many families who lived in historic farmhouses were forced to abandon their homes and a way of life rooted in the land already cultivated by their ancestors. Two of the protagonists, who lived through these eventsat a very young age, tell us stories of uprooting, but also of struggle, overcoming and resilience.
