1.1- The 18th edition of Ecozine Film Festival (April 2025) will be held in different locations, the main venue being Zaragoza (Spain).
2.1-EcoZine wants to promote, exhibit and reward fiction, animation, experimental and documentary audiovisual works, focused on environmental issues, produced anywhere in the world, as well as to promote parallel actions and activities related to this theme.
2.2- By environment we understand all aspects related to climate change, water resources and their management, sustainable development and change, human rights and gender relations in relation to the environment, North-South relations and socio-economic imbalances and other human activities with detrimental effects on the natural environment.
3.1-Films must have been produced after 1 July 2023.
3.2- Entries for the competition section will be made in the following sections:
- Short films up to 25 minutes (documentary, fiction and animation).
- Feature films, over 45 minutes (documentary).
3.3-The call for entries is open until October 30, 2024.
3.4-The Ecozine Film Festival will not pay screening fees.
3.5- The producers and/or directors and/or distributors of the selected films will be informed before 15 December 2024. This date may be extended according to the needs of the Ecozine Organisation.
The Film Festival will only notify the selected films of their selection.
3.6- The films selected to participate in the 18th edition must send the following documents by 15 January 2025:
- Screening copy
- C.V. Filmmakers
- Two HQ photos for inclusion in the web and catalogue
- Trailer and any other available promotional material (posters, etc.)
- The films, if they are in a language other than Spanish, must have Spanish subtitles. Ultimately, the list of dialogues in Spanish, English or French, with time codes (.srt files or similar) must be sent.
4.1- An independent team will select the films that will participate in the competitive categories from among the submitted works.
4.2- It is forbidden to participate in the Selection Team, in the Official Jury and in the organisational structures of the 18th edition of Ecozine natural or legal persons linked to the films presented in the Competitive Sections.
4.3- The Ecozine Film Festival may create parallel sections with films that have not been selected, when they are considered interesting to be screened during the 18th edition.
5.1- An Official Jury will be constituted to choose the winners in the Competitive Section, and all decisions will be final. The Organisation may invite other independent bodies and organisations/associations to decide on any of the prizes awarded.
5.2- The Jury will award the following prizes
- Best International Film
- Best National Film
- Best Documentary Short Film
- Best Fiction Short Film
- Best Animated Short Film
5.3-The organisation of the 18th edition of EcoZine also awards the following prizes:
-Young Audience Award to the best Short Film.
-Jury prize for the best short film made by schoolchildren up to 12 years of age.
-Jury Prize for the best short film made by schoolchildren over 12 years old.
-Aragon Television Award, with a cash prize of 900 €. In return, two broadcasts must be authorized on regional television for one year (dates to be defined with the winner).
-Award for distribution in Spain offered by CONUNPACK DISTRIBUCIÓN
5.4-Other prizes may be offered by national and international institutions and organizations previously approved by the organization of the Festival.
6.1- For the promotion of the Festival, the Organization reserves the right to show an extract of the selected films free of charge, in cinema, television, Internet or other public media.
6.2- The organisation reserves the right to show the selected films as many times as necessary. According to this point, the producers will grant the rights free of charge during the Festival.
6.3- After the Film Festival, Ecozine may use the selected films for cultural and environmental programmes, always with the express permission of the owners.
6.4- Any situation omitted in these regulations will be determined by the 18th edition of the Ecozine organisation, in accordance with the general principles of law and customs in audiovisual competitions or festivals.
6.5-These rules are in English and Spanish. In case of doubt, it will be resolved by the Spanish version.
